How Do I File for Unemployment Insurance?
If all your work in the last 18 months was in Oregon, you are eligible to file a claim for benefits online. Apply Online

You will need to supply the following information if any of the following apply to you:

  • If you are not a citizen of the United States.
  • If you worked outside of Oregon in the past 18 months.
  • If you worked for the federal government in the last 18 months.
  • If you served in the U.S. military in the past 18 months.
  • If you wish to restart a claim you filed in another state within the last 12 months.
  • If you were physically unable to work during the last 18 months.

Go to the nearest employment office and bring with you this form and the following items if available:

  • Names, addresses, dates of work and wage amounts for any out-of-state or federal employers.
  • Your DD214 (Member #4) if you served in the military.
Documents showing that you can legally work in this country if you are not a U.S. citizen.
  • Claims may be filed Monday through Friday (except holidays) between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM, Pacific Time.

Note: These forms can be mailed in.

Apply Online

If you worked in more than one state, show all of your jobs in the past two years including work you did in Oregon; attach an extra sheet of paper if needed. Working in more than one state may give you options about which state pays your benefits. Your employment office will help you determine what claim choices you may have.

If all your work was in another state, you will need to contact the nearest Employment Department office. Do not delay; your claim starts with the date you mail or bring in your application.
